Serving In Community

Serving In The Community
Threads is committed to proactively being a good neighbor, both locally and globally.
At the local level, Threads hosts a monthly “Service Saturday” for the purpose of sharing God’s kindness with our wider community in a variety of ways. Examples of Service Saturday initiatives include packing sack lunches for the unhoused community, offering donuts and coffee at a local laundromat, raking leaves in the neighborhood, and putting on a free car wash.
Threads is partnering with WMed Street Medicine Kalamazoo to help provide donation needs for unhoused community members. Sign up for a slot and bring the requested item(s) to the designated box at church on Sunday! You can also sign up to help serve meals to the unhoused on Mondays from 12:30-2:30.
Many of our neighbors are struggling with food insecurity. Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes is requesting food donations to meet needs. Please pick up non-perishables to donate and we'll have a box in the back of the gathering space to receive them on Sundays.
Threads' Outreach Team has identified three primary areas of focus for the pursuit of Threads mission in the world: Anti-Racism, LGBTQIA+ Inclusion, and "Local and Global Impact." These teams meet and work in conjunction with one another, recognizing the intersectionality inherent within these three areas of focus.
For 2025, Threads has committed to several initiatives/partners:
-
Loaves and Fishes of Kalamazoo - Threads will collect food donations throughout the year.
-
Kalamazoo Housing Advocates: Threads donates 50% of all benevolence funds to this trusted partner for the purpose of supporting those facing housing insecurity.
-
