Poverty Simulation Workshop

Threads: Portage will host a Poverty Simulation Workshop on Wednesday, September 10, from 5pm - 8pm at the 3600 W. Milham location.  Cost is $5 per person.

Are you concerned about rising poverty in our area? Do you want to have a better understanding of the challenges faced by people who live at or below the poverty line? Do you ever wonder why they just don't work harder?

The Poverty Simulation Workshop provides an opportunity to experience poverty (through roleplay) in order to understand the impact it has on individuals, families and our community. The workshop allows you to spend a "month" in the life of someone who has an income below the poverty line.  The simulation is a unique learning resource designed to provide insight into the chronic crisis that consumes many working poor families.  Come find out why poverty is a cycle and help us start a conversation about how we can bless those in our community who are affected by poverty.

There are still a few open spots.  Registration deadline is August 18.
