355 houses!

Yesterday was a Threads day that news outlets are talking about. In fact, word has traveled as far as Washington D.C. We canceled our Worship Gatherings yesterday, loaded up 8 buses, and hit downtown Kalamazoo to complete an energy audit.
This energy audit is a critical step in an amazing dream to replace the windows in almost 1800 homes in our northside neighborhood of Kalamazoo, MI.
For a good sampling, 300 homes were needed for the audit and Threads was able to audit 355 homes! Whoohoo! That means our teams surveyed over 6,000 windows.
What happens now? This data will be given to Azon, a local company who will create a computer model that shows a typical home in that area. With this computer model, they will be able to demonstrate how much energy would be saved by replacing every window in a typical home. Take that and multiply by hundreds of homes, and a whole area of town will be changed.
After that step comes the step of funding. You can begin to pray now for this project. It will take some incredible funding, especially with the current Michigan economy and state budget cuts. Hmmm...can we see the stage set for a "God thing"?
It was great to meet homeowners who wanted to know more of what was going on. Imagine if you have faced the choice of heat or prescription meds. What if you had to pick between eviction or food? People were so eager to learn more of this exciting vision for their community.
