Beyond Us - FAQ's
What's the vision?
With God's leading, we have determined critical next steps for Threads to take place between now and March, 2010.
- We see the need to expand our staff LEADERSHIP - our hope is to hire additional staff.
- We see an incredible mission opportunity to LAUNCH 2 new sites over the next 3 years.
- We see the need to begin saving now for future LOCATION needs.
What is the total Beyond Us financial goal?
$750,000
How will the funds be raised?
The funds will be commitment pledges by those of us at Threads during our "Beyond Us" encounters.
When will we take these steps?
- Our LEADERSHIP goal of hiring additional staff would be completed as soon as the funds become available.
- Our LAUNCH goal would mean launching our first new site in Fall ‘08, followed by a second launch in Fall ‘09.
- Our LOCATION goal means saving the funds as they are raised, while a location plan is developed over the months ahead.
How will the commitments be made?
Commitments will be made by giving above and beyond what we currently bring back to God. Giving would be weekly, monthly or annually over a three-year period. Some may also be led to give non-cash gifts (such as easily saleable items).
Will financial commitments be made public?
No. While we will celebrate Threads' total Beyond Us pledges, individual contributions will not be made public.
Can commitments be changed, if necessary?
Yes, you may either increase or decrease your commitment at any time God leads.
Threads launched a new church before. Isn't this the same?
Actually, we partnered with another church in launching Freshwater in Paw Paw. They are an independent, self-governing church.
The idea of launching two new sites is an "out of the box" approach to our mission. We would have one church (Threads), one staff team, one budget, one vision, but more than one location. We want to maximize our stewardship of what God has given to live out the mission Jesus gave us. We believe this approach will help us do that.
Will Threads change with all of this?
Threads will continue to be people following Jesus. We will still have a unified vision for following Him and values that guide how we live together. That will not change at all.
Where we meet, when, and what methods we use to live out our life together will always be changing. Change is inevitable; our growth is entirely optional.
